This deliciously sweet, fudgy cake is gluten-free and dairy-free
Absolutely thrilled to have won two Great Taste stars for this gorgeous cake. The judges said: ‘We loved the flavour, especially the powerful almond. It's not too sweet at all and very rich with a nice bitterness ... a most attractive, dark, squidgy looking cake with a very good hit of cocoa, and you also get the almonds. The sweetness is exactly right because you can taste all the ingredients. Would taste delicious with a big dollop of crème fraiche and some raspberries.'
Made with organic ingredients, including Fairtrade cocoa powder, extra-virgin olive oil, ground almonds and Madagascar vanilla, this cake was also commended at the FreeFrom Food Awards. The judges said it was: ‘Light and rich, good crumb, great ingredients … Rich chocolate flavour and a good solid texture. Moist and sophisticated … I really love the hint of olive oil.'
Like a good ginger cake, it keeps well and improves with age, if you can resist eating it all at the first sitting!
Comes with a sachet of organic Fairtrade cocoa powder or icing sugar, to dust before serving. All ingredients gluten-free and dairy-free.
